Casey as a leader has been nothing but a supportive, positive, and helpful role model to the staff.
Casey Green is known for her advanced skills and ability to critically think for the unit. Recently, the unit functioned cohesively through insurmountable challenges.
4 South is a challenging unit to manage on the baseline with 29 critical beds, and many sick patients to monitor and prioritize their needs. This night was different than most nights. The unit had 2 patients that were simultaneously coding throughout the night, and a 3rd patient on the verge of cardiac arrest and requiring mass blood transfusions.
Casey's ability to calmly focus on the task at hand really showed throughout the night. She organized and set up the staff to have a successful night by meeting all the needs of these patients. She assigned different tasks to various nurses to level out the workload, and not make anyone feel overwhelmed. She made everything look easy despite the difficult execution.
These types of nights in an ICU can be very frustrating, and chaotic for the staff without proper leadership. Casey as a leader has been nothing but a supportive, positive, and helpful role model to the staff.
