Rachel is a nurse I have grown close to over the past 2 years. I worked with her on our unit when I was a CNA, and gradually worked up to my nursing role now as a Registered Nurse. Rachel has always been a team player and has advocated for her patients. I see this everyday on the unit when I am working with her.
On Tuesday, Rachel had asked me to help her with a certain task. She had a patient that had been there for at least several weeks and who was going to have a Hospice consult the next day. The weather had finally picked up in Wisconsin and was finally getting nice out. The weather was in the 70’s and Rachel wanted to make sure her patient could be able to go outside and enjoy the weather instead of seeing it from inside her hospital room. Rachel asked me to help her do this, and so we did. We were able to transfer the patient into the wheelchair so her family could take her outside and enjoy the nice weather with her.
I praise Rachel for being so kind and loving for her patients like she does everyday. I am extremely proud to be working next to her as a coworker, nurse, and friend. She is always so passionate and she deserves to be recognized for her amazing care.
