Bailey truly made this long, arduous process the absolute best it could have been under the circumstances.
Bailey was my second nurse on shift throughout my labor (which lasted nearly a total of 48 hours). She was amazingly comforting, and encouraging, and continuously advocated for me and educated me throughout the process of my long labor. When my epidural failed, I felt extremely discouraged (and the anesthesiology team was divided as to whether or not I should get a replacement). Amongst all of the professionals, Bailey asked for my preferences, used what happened previously in my labor and what still needed to happen to help me make an informed decision about what to do. I had a hemorrhage early in labor and Bailey was extremely sensitive to how worried this made me and reassured me regarding my health and baby's health frequently. When labor extended and stalled several times, Bailey problem solved and helped move me to different positions, ultimately resulting in baby moving low enough to finally deliver.
On top of her amazing clinical and interpersonal skills, Bailey stayed 3 hours after her shift to help deliver my baby, even though there was another nurse on shift to take over for her. Finally, when my baby was born with a nuchal cord resulting in needing oxygen after birth, Bailey stayed with me and shared frequent updates until he could be brought to me.
