Susan made me feel hopeful and I saw a better future for myself.

I started to go to the Wound Care Clinic in 2021. Besides the wonderful doctors that helped me, there were several wonderful and delightful helpers. They helped the doctors and the patients. I found myself finally getting help for my legs after several emergency room visits and several doctors that never could tell me what was wrong with my legs. Once I started to frequent the clinic each week, I became more hopeful for a recovery. I also was finally told what was wrong with me.

I eventually met all the girls that helped at the clinic. They all pretty much saw me when I was depressed and lost. I finally felt comfortable to talk to everyone and as time went on, I wasn’t so depressed or scared anymore. Everyone from the nurses to the doctors and the office staff were super nice and caring to me.

The one that stands out is Sue K. She made me feel like a human being with meaningful concerns that I had about myself and where I lived. She always had an answer with someone from the hospital that I could express my concerns to when I was worried where I could go to about the hell I lived in. She gave me a card with BJH social worker services that I could contact. When I needed to have a primary doctor that was closer, she gave me a card with primary doctors and numbers on it.

She made me feel like finally someone was listening to me and just maybe I could get some help to be a better person than I was that day. She made me feel hopeful and I saw a better future for myself. I live alone and have no one to talk to or to help me turn the correct way. But Sue did and she was there to point out that maybe I could see a better future and get someone to help me have a better life than where I was.
