1LT Alyssa Howard displayed compassion, advocacy, commitment, professionalism, and exceptional care to help a new mother. This mother was flown in from Alaska without her newborn due to health issues. She arrived with nothing but the clothes she was wearing. Upon leaving Madigan, she needed luggage and a way to transport her expressed breastmilk back to her infant in the NICU in Alaska. 1LT Howard went above and beyond by going to 5 different stores to obtain a cooler and dry ice; she helped package the breastmilk properly for transport on the airplane to ensure it stayed frozen on the return flight. Because of this, the infant in the NICU was able to receive her mother’s precious breastmilk! 1LT Alyssa Howard is a model soldier and exceptional RN who is committed to upholding the Army Values and displaying all of the qualities of a DASY Nurse!
