Kendra was nominated by the Nurse Practitioner in Cancer Center who said:

There was a situation in the infusion suite when the patient’s status declined rapidly after the completion of chemotherapy. The patient was about to leave the infusion suite when she became extremely short of breath. Kendra quickly obtained oxygen, re-accessed the patient’s port, and we gave steroids. We contacted the Emergency Department. We transported the patient and her husband to the ED, and the patient was promptly intubated within 5 minutes.

Kendra stayed with the patient’s husband to provide comfort as well as an explanation of the procedures while I was speaking to the care team about the patient’s diagnosis. Thanks to Kendra’s quick assessment, the patient was treated appropriately and recovered from the incident. The patient and her family were extremely thankful for the amazing nursing care provided and quick thinking to treat the patient.
