My brother is currently a patient. Just as a back story my brother does not like hospitals and was admitted due to a bad infection in his arm. On the first day on the floor, he had been NPO since 10am and was told at 6:30 pm the surgery was canceled. Then the next day he had been NPO since midnight but was taken to surgery at 8:30 pm. So you have a man who doesn’t like hospitals, is probably scared but won’t admit it, arm is in a lot of pain, is frustrated due to prolonged wait times, and is hungry beyond belief. It doesn’t make for an easygoing patient. Even though he is busy with patients, Richard was available promptly when we called, he was very patient and thoroughly explained things in a way my brother could understand- which made him feel better. Even while my brother was most frustrated, Richard was professional, courteous, and went above and beyond. Richard is a major factor in my brother being a lot more comfortable with his hospital stay. And also more informed. I should also mention that when my brother was in surgery Richard kept me updated about his progress. I am extremely grateful for Richard’s care for my brother. I know it made a difference in a good way toward his healing.
