She signed in on Saturday morning just to check on the Veteran. At that time, his HR was noted to be in the 130s. Ms. Roe immediately called the Veteran and insisted the Veteran have someone drive him to the ER for evaluation.
A Veteran was originally referred for HF/HTN with HX Afib. Noted to be in SR during an earlier admission and “regular rhythm” one month later during an ER visit for HTN. Ms. Roe had noticed the Veteran’s HR had been trending upward however the Veteran was noted as being without symptoms. Ms. Roe remained concerned about her Veteran after leaving work Friday and decided, although Home Telehealth monitors Veterans from Mon-Fri, she wanted to check on the Veteran.

Ms. Roe immediately called the Veteran and insisted the Veteran have someone drive him to the ER for evaluation. Ms. Roe was concerned the Vet may have Afib with RVR. The Veteran proceeded to the ED where he was evaluated and admitted for Afib with RVR. Due to Ms. Roe’s concern and exceptional nursing care by going above and beyond, the Veteran received appropriate care in a timely manner possibly saving the Veteran from a poor outcome.
