First Floor Tele is an extraordinary team, and they exude teamwork as they care for many challenging patients day in and day out. This team cared for a very challenging dementia patient for a long period of time. This patient was a difficult placement and required a safe secure discharge location, for that reason they had an extended stay on First Floor Tele.

The patient was violent and challenging in many ways. The patient would often look for ways to elope during the day and night. This team became very inventive in finding ways to keep the patient safe. They would sit with the patient, and bring candy, cakes, and treats as a welcomed distraction as the patient loved sweets. The team regularly washed the patient’s clothes in their home washers. Distracting this patient became an innate ability for this team. They got creative with games, walks, and used chores to give the patient purpose during this long hospital stay.

The security team was also utilized during the night to keep the patient safe. During a hurricane, North Bay Hospital was evacuated to Mease Countryside Hospital. Keeping the patient safe during this evacuation was of high priority for the team. The patient remained safe during this and was eventually placed in a safe, secure environment. I could not be prouder of the First Floor Tele team and their dedication to this patient. This is just one example of how they provide extraordinary care day in and day out!
