My father was admitted to Torrance Memorial in late November 2022. He was then moved to the 3rd floor ICU unit. My mother and three sisters found all the doctors, nurses, and staff to be very helpful, however, our nurse Troy was truly exceptional. We were impressed by his intelligence, as well as his tact, patience, and kindness. I really appreciated the clear, germane, and informed responses to our (many) questions, and was reassured hearing his very detailed briefings to other nurses and staff. Of course, the decision to was a difficult one to make, but I truly believe that Troy's expertise allowed my dad's passing to be as peaceful and non-traumatic as possible. He treated my dad with such care and respect. His knowledge allowed family members to plan and visit according to their comfort levels. My dad's passing was so tranquil. We are very grateful for that. We feel fortunate to have had Troy to guide us through this complicated, stressful, and painful experience. He made such a positive impact in such a devastating moment. That simple, quiet, unassuming, tactful, kind action.
