I want to give praise for the excellent and compassionate care I received while I was in the care of Nurse Chaney. I was placed in the transitional care unit after my complete hip replacement. I was told that it would be determined whether I could go home if: my pain was managed, and if I could walk with a cane or walker. If not, then I was to be admitted for the night. I was very nervous and anxious about not only staying in the hospital but also any pain I would have. I really wanted to go home and not spend the night in the hospital. Nurse Chaney greeted me warmly, saw to my comfort, and after constant care, assured me that I would be fine and would be able to go home. She instantly relieved my anxiety. She handled my pain level and made sure I was seen by a physical therapist so I could be released. She answered all my questions and concerns. She helped me with my "take home" medications and called the pharmacy multiple times to make sure I received the correct meds. She actually went to the pharmacy herself to pick up my medications for me! She also hand-typed my medication list to I wouldn't get confused about when and how often to take each medication. It was invaluable as I was still post-anesthesia and would have totally mixed them up. I had on an ice holding garment, and it was cutting into my skin. She got me a thick, soft, cotton gauze pad so it didn't hurt anymore and made sure I was comfortable. I have never felt so pampered and had such great care in a hospital. She really went above and beyond to take care of me. I can't thank her enough for providing me with not only exceptional care but making sure I was safe and pain-free. She's a wonderful example of what kind of care Torrance Memorial provides to the patients.
