First let me start with an enormous THANK YOU! The doctors, nurses, technicians, and support on 3 West were nothing short of amazing! One nurse in particular, Sidney Lewis, has been a ray of sunshine. Sidney has not only aided in the recovery of my mom, but also brought peace to my brother and myself knowing she was in excellent hands. My mother's journey has taken us from the lowest of lows to the highest level of excitement and joy. Her early prognosis was not good, but with the excellent care that was given, she is now on the road to recovery. Sidney was a vital part of her healing journey. Sidney's passion, commitment and knowledge are second to none. Nursing is Sidney's calling! In a critical care environment where things can be hectic, he went out of his way to make sure my brother and I were always knowledgeable about my mother's progress and treatment she was receiving. Sidney never made us feel rushed or like we were imposing when we asked questions. Most importantly, when my mother was recovering after surgery and her anxiety was at it's highest, he was able to bring her peace with his calm demeanor and genuine smile and care. His dedication and genuine desire to make a difference was evident in everything he did. HCA Memorial has a jewel in this Extraordinary Nurse!

There are no words to express our gratitude for the great care and love Sidney Lewis showed towards our loved one, over the last four days of his life. You are truly angels, who gave him every opportunity available to live. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you to lose a patient, but now, we know you tried everything and showed the greatest care. Thank you.
