Hood College BSN program faculty recognizes Abigail “Abby” Feuerherd as a 2023 DAISY Award nursing student honoree. Most notably, Abby demonstrated professionalism, leadership, care, and compassion during the fall 2022 and spring 2023 semesters of her Adult Health clinical.

In the words of Abby’s clinical instructor, “Abby was one of my students in Adult Health 1 clinical and Adult Health 2 clinicals. For both clinical semesters, I have been so impressed by Abby’s performance. She is one of the kindest, most hard-working, and most genuine individuals who I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Abby is always professional and treats each one of her patients, family members, and everyone around her with the utmost respect. She has a calming presence about her that makes those around her feel comfortable and at ease, even in the most stressful situations. Abby has received compliments from many of her patients and their family members regarding her pleasant personality and the quality care she has provided them. Not only has Abby made an impact on so many of her patients, but she has also impressed staff members on the unit. After one of our clinical days, Abby’s co-assigned nurse told me how much she enjoyed working with Abby and that her inquisitiveness and zest for learning were so refreshing to see. Each week, I look forward to working with Abby, knowing that she will put in the work to gain the most she can from each experience. Abby is the type of nurse who I would want to care for myself or one of my own family members.”

Abby displayed the maturity and thoughtfully and effortlessly engaged patients in conversation, instilling confidence in her ability to provide quality nursing care. Abby’s spirit of calm, empathy, compassion, leadership, and advocacy in nursing is why her nomination for the 2023 Student DAISY Award was no surprise to nursing program faculty and students.
