The staff look to her for strength and guidance during many stressful situations. They trust her judgment and seek her help daily.
As the chair of our UBC and day shift CTL, she consistently pushes for change and advocates not only for the patients but also for the unit and staff. Although her presence portrays a quiet demeanor, her voice can definitely be heard, especially during a code. It is her voice that is loud and clear that stands out above the rest, giving clear, concise, and closed-loop communication. Her voice has been an advocate for the standardization of assigning roles to staff in Code Blues. The ICU has implemented this process and has encouraged the floors to do the same. This is just one of the many positive changes that she has helped create in her leadership role. The staff look to her for strength and guidance during many stressful situations. They trust her judgment and seek her help daily. She helps set new goals to be met for the year and challenges and encourages those who have not obtained the goal to be successful in achieving it. This year, she will be required to not only motivate others but also to self-motivate to achieve the new unit goal of being certified in her specialty. I have no doubt that she will be successful. Nursing is often deemed a “thankless” profession. I personally would like to thank her for her hard work and dedication to her leadership. I’ve only had the pleasure of knowing her for a short year. During this time, she has shown utmost integrity, compassion, and respect to all she encounters. It is with great pleasure to nominate Ricketta Morgan.
