There was a bit of debate on delivery morning on which nurse would be our “primary” nurse for the delivery. I was so nervous about this choice for so many months. It was so important for us to have someone who was kind and understanding. It is such a vulnerable and traumatic situation and I was so worried that we would have a nurse who wasn’t understanding enough. I was so very wrong. Sweet Jane entered our room and within minutes, I knew that GOD sent her. This precious nurse cared for us so well with such love and compassion. I never felt like she was a stranger. I felt like I knew her my entire life. I felt like she truly cared for us and was moved and touched by our circumstance. Not only did she provide exceptional clinical nursing care to us, but she provided compassion and kindness. She is absolutely the epitome of extraordinary. This nurse, this angel, literally climbed into bed with me after delivery. She sat on the side of my bed and held me and my baby and was so kind, gentle, and caring, I was blown away. She provided so many touching and memorable moments for us. Right before we were taken to the operating room, when our anxiety was so high and I was absolutely scared to death, she took a moment and prayed over us. The calmness that immediately filled my heart is something I will never be able to adequately express. She checked on us multiple times after we were moved from her unit. She helped to make molds and sweet mementos of my baby to have for a lifetime. I am so thankful that she was scheduled on shift that day. She was truly an angel sent from HEAVEN for us. Baptist Health is absolutely blessed to have this caliber of a nurse on their staff. She is more than deserving of a DAISY Award and so much more. Jane Jackson is the definition of an extraordinary and compassionate nurse.
