Amanda was able to build repour with the patient, gain his trust, and help him along with his healing process.
Recently, the 9th Floor has had the same patient re-admitted several times. He is a young man who lives long-term at a facility. It was immediately obvious to staff that he was not interested in self-care. He had not showered in months. His hair was in dreads from not being washed or brushed. During her shift, Amanda was able to address these issues with the patient using kindness and compassion. She was able to gain the patient’s trust and address his fears of being in the shower alone and falling. Amanda took about two hours out of her day to stay with him while she convinced him he would feel better after being clean. She then took more time to give him a haircut and he was able to brush through his hair for the first time in months.

Patients often forget how much self-care and simple cleanliness can help with healing. Amanda was able to build repour with the patient, gain his trust, and help him along with his healing process.

A huge thanks to her and the time she took to go the extra mile for our patient.
