Lori, in my eyes, was the best. Her kindness, compassion, and quick wit were exactly what I needed.
I was very scared to have my procedure completed. I questioned if it was the right thing for me because of potential complications. So much to process for a “simple” procedure. I put on my brave face, did not share my fears, and pushed forward. I met so many kind faces, but one stands out to me.
Lori was there when I woke up. She told me I was OK and out of my procedure. She kept telling me, "You’re doing great!" I remember I kept looking at her feeling so thankful that I could hear her reassuring me. She narrated all she was doing. She would tell me she needed to do XYZ and then did it. I felt like I was her only concern although I knew she was checking on others as well. Maybe it was the drugs, but I shared my fear with her and she kindly listened and validated me. She smiled, and had stickers all over her computer and a red Corvette mouse. All things that were able to distract me.
Lori, in my eyes, was the best. Her kindness, compassion, and quick wit were exactly what I needed. Lori called the next day to check in on me. Her first words were, "You might not remember me,” Oh, Lori, of course, I do! You were the kind face that eased me back from surgery. Don’t ever stop being you. You have touched my life in a way I cannot say thank you enough. You are really good at what you do and I hope you tell everyone.
