We saw the impact she made, reflected in the way H lit up when she saw that Teresa was the nurse coming to check on her.
Not sure where to begin to describe the commitment, compassion, knowledge, and dedication that Teresa exhibits not only as a nurse but as an inherently good human being. H (wife, mom, grandmother, friend) was in the hospital for 11 days before she was healthy enough for us to take her home. Upon discharge, this nurse was thorough; she went over what to expect and how to utilize services (instructions with medications, drainage, oxygen, etc.). She went above and beyond to try and make it easier for us to understand the care H would need at home. She encouraged us to call her if we had questions or needed anything. Which we did, and she delivered.
Unfortunately, H landed back in the hospital for 3 more days before passing. While we had a handful of other nurses, we were so thankful for, Teresa who provided extraordinary care. Words cannot describe our gratitude for this nurse. Her confidence and kindness, are immeasurable. We saw the impact she made, reflected in the way H lit up when she saw that Teresa was the nurse coming to check on her. Even if she was not assigned to H, she would pop in and say hello and see how she was doing along with the rest of our family.
This RN not only provided care and comfort for H but for our entire family. Whether it was a kind word, a hug, or a cup of coffee, she was always there for us. She became a part of our extended family. This RN would tell you she didn't do anything special ... but she has no idea the positive impact she made on our family during this very difficult time. In fact, SHE thanked US for allowing and trusting us with H's care.
On H's last day, Teresa was the scheduled nurse working and we could not have been more grateful. Her comfort and kindness made that horrible day somewhat bearable and somehow, she demonstrated a calmness and peacefulness to assure us H was not in any pain. She did all this while she also was hurt watching H pass and the sadness our family was experiencing. We will be eternally thankful for this nurse and the care she gave H.
