Each day Makenzie goes above and beyond for not only her assigned patients but for her colleagues and all of the patients on our unit as a whole. She is quick to offer assistance and never hesitates to jump in to help. She is very knowledgeable and will take the time to explain things not only to new nurses that she is orienting but to the patients as well. An example that I would like to share to explain how Makenzie goes above and beyond is when we were discharging a patient who was homeless and had no clothes to leave with, Makenzie offered to buy her clothing from our gift shop and even offered her the shoes off of her own feet! Unfortunately, it was the weekend, and the gift shop was closed and her shoes were too small for the patient. So, Makenzie had her boyfriend bring some clothes and shoes in for this patient. Makenzie is such a compassionate and caring nurse and I am so grateful to learn from and work alongside her!
