As he always does, he treated and showed this patient dignity, and respect, and ensured that through their hospitalization their privacy was guarded.
I have worked with Ted for just over 2 years, and noticed his care, compassion, and clinical knowledge toward patients and his team. 2 weeks ago all of the best of Ted's care and heart shone through as he was assigned to a patient who also in an AHSV employee. As he always does, he treated and showed this patient dignity, and respect, and ensured that through their hospitalization their privacy was guarded. It came through in the small things - always making sure the curtain was pulled, not speaking at the RN station about their case, and doing hand-off reports in a very professional manner.

At the bedside, Ted repeated the answers to the patient's questions as many times as needed for the patient to have a grasp and feel comfortable. He never asked judgmental or critical questions about the reasons for hospitalization, allowing the patient to share what they wanted when they felt ready. Ted took care of this patient for 3 days during the most critical part, on the last day I met with the patient, they said to me that Ted's care and how he treated them was not only physically healing, but what their heart and soul needed at one of the worst times of their lives. This patient expressed "not feeling alone or judged" because of Ted's care. Ted exemplifies what whole-person care looks and feels like when a person is at their most vulnerable spot in life.
