Anna helped us so much in our triplets' [UNIT] journey. The girls were born at 30w so they all needed a fair amount of care. Our smallest babe was 1lb 9oz at birth. Anna would go out of her way to make my family feel welcome. She gave me so much useful info along the way on so many different topics. As a first-time mother, I had so many questions - with no friends that had children yet. I turned to her many times for guidance, support, laughter, help, etc. She made us feel like a priority.

There are many stories that would meet the DAISY criteria, but the strongest story that comes to mind is when our smallest girl had to have emergency care (for lack of a better term) I had been holding her doing kangaroo care and Anna noticed her numbers drop suddenly. When I handed my baby to her she was almost blue. Anna calmly and swiftly put her in her isolette and pressed the assistance button (not sure what it’s called). After she pressed it, she calmly told us that a lot of people were going to come in any second and not to be afraid. I watched many staff members rush in to attend to my baby. I couldn’t watch after that, so I had to turn away. It felt like forever, but the team got her numbers back up.

After the chaos was over Anna walked over to check on us. She explained what happened, how it was fixed, and what to expect going forward. I could see in her eyes how much she cared for my baby, her tiny patient. Her compassion and calm demeanor helped me very much in those moments. Later that evening when we got home, we checked on our baby on the angel cam - Anna had left a note “from lil baby” that only we could see on the cam - it was a simple gesture that touched me deeply and I’ll never forget it. I’ll never forget Anna and I can’t wait until I can tell the girls all about her.
