I felt completely safe and cared for, and I knew the staff would take care of my needs.
This letter is long overdue, but I wanted to acknowledge the care and kindness that Linda Toy provided when I was admitted last year. I was hospitalized last year for my first birth and although I am a nurse I have zero experience in labor and delivery. When I was brought to my room, Linda was there. She explained everything, and she walked me through the process so I would know what to expect. When they were giving me the epidural, she held my shoulders, talked to me calmly, and reminded me to breathe. I felt completely safe and cared for, and I knew the staff would take care of my needs. During my visit my baby went into distress, and once again Linda was there to help calm me, she worked tirelessly with the team, and she updated me on the plan. As she was preparing to leave, she gave me confidence in the other staff members and the oncoming physician. Her reassurance made me feel that I would be in good hands, and although it was a stressful situation I felt at peace. Linda set the tone for my hospital visit, and because of her, I felt confident in the care, confident in my labor process, and confident in the hospital staff. If I have another baby in the future, hands-down I would want Linda as my nurse.
