Everything about her is calm, kind, compassionate, and genuine.
As I entered the unknown world of a cancer diagnosis, I found myself overwhelmed with emotions — fears, questions, concerns, and everything in between. I had a thousand questions but didn’t know what to ask. Then there was the apprehension that came with each answer I would receive… So, I tried to ask coherent questions and process the responses as best I could. Everyone was nice and receptive, but then I met Sofia. Sofia seemed to know my concerns before I even vocalized them. She asked me questions that put me at ease and responded to my answers with information gained from her experience but delivered with care and compassion. She put my mind at ease countless times by adding a real perspective to my concerns. She prepared me for whatever was coming next interspersed with conversations about the food channel (which I love), family (hers and my own), work, and just life. Everything about her is calm, kind, compassionate, and genuine. She gave me tea and medication with care, and I felt like I had known her for years. She is never rushed or stressed and if she is, it never shows. I think that the word genuine is paramount with Sofia. She genuinely cares about her patients and that is evident with every visit. She seemingly & effortlessly has made me feel good, which is crucial in this uncertain situation. She ensures that I understand what was discussed with the doctor and adds encouragement and perspective — and she listens. I cannot say enough good things about this nurse, this wonderful human being. She truly displays a passion for her profession, and I have been lucky enough to be in her care. I am forever grateful for Sofia and will never forget her.
