As a nurse of 28 years, I am always seeking to find those who go above and beyond for their patients and families. Our grandmother, C, was nearing the end of her life. She’d been in/out of hospitals the last few years and had been declining the last few weeks. When I arrived to see her, my sister-in-law had mentioned her nurse Elaine was a fairly new nurse but had been so good to C. I met her shortly after I arrived and wow! She was just what our family needed and spoke so sweetly, professionally, and kindly to C. Elaine would talk to her as if they were having a conversation despite Connie having not really awoken much. However, she would respond w/her eyes or squeeze her hands.

We had many questions and felt that overall her care was good, but the empathy and love Elaine gave to our grandmother was heartfelt and thorough. I couldn’t have hand-picked a better nurse for her. When she wasn’t sure of answers to our questions, she found out. She paid particular attention to C’s comfort on all levels and for that, we are forever grateful.

She took the time to ask our names and relations and I know she will be an asset to any unit or job she holds in the future.
