I was a patient on couplet care & I was recovering from my very first C-section. My daughter developed jaundice, and had other risk factors that made it progress pretty fast. Recovering from a C-section especially because it was my first, was hard enough already, but my daughter’s jaundice progressed pretty fast and it didn’t seem like it was getting any better.

What stood out about Stephanie was that she acknowledged and respected my emotions at the time because I was incredibly overwhelmed. She also took the time to ensure that I had a really good understanding of what was going on. I couldn’t understand exactly what was going on, and Stephanie took her time and showed me graphs; she explained things without the use of medical jargon, and considering all other circumstances, she was able to uplift me during such a stressful period with her incredibly friendly demeanor, and her wonderful humor. I can’t remember the number of times I asked her to explain the situation that my daughter was going through over and over again, and never once did she make me feel like I was a burden or that it was too time-consuming for her to answer my questions. I was in the hospital for at least five days, and I knew how busy all of the nurses were - but despite that she was always there to give me the reassurance I needed.
