Ted Pugsley deserves this DAISY for being a great brand-new nurse, especially on the TBI floor. He has exemplified how it is to be a great advocate for his patients-always asking the right questions, challenging orders/tasks/even medications that seem to be more harmful than helpful to his patients. He has shown great compassion for his patients, even if they are not his assigned patients anymore. Ted always makes a point to check in with his past patients and offer a warm hello and always hand them a helping hand. Despite having tough patients very often, we are grateful that Ted never dismisses any acute signs/symptoms of danger to our patients, always trying his very best to make them better and always speaking to the team about what he thinks may be best for the patient’s outcome. Ted is very patient with patients and their families, often taking longer than usual calls to listen to family’s concerns/grievances; not leaving a situation until a resolution is in place. He has grown as a nurse and a person in just a short few months. I hope he knows what a great role model he is as a nurse and how appreciative we are of his great work and passion for caring.
