Through her leadership, we continue to have successful programs that train our frontline healthcare workers, ultimately leading to safe, quality patient care and outcomes.
Nola exemplifies the definition of a servant leader. A servant leader focuses on encouragement through empowering and uplifting those who work for them. Nola looks at the needs of her team and continually asks how they can help them solve problems and promote their own personal development. She is genuinely concerned about contributions to advance the knowledge of her team and peers. Her colleagues are happy to learn from and work with her, and she provides outstanding support to everyone in our department, not just her direct reports. In addition, she is visible and supports our new hires in the CNA school, LPN Transition Program, Peri-Operative, and Nurse Residency. Nola demonstrates an unwavering commitment to our team and department. Her loyalty to our organization is sincere. She is the gold standard of a great listener and always shows genuine empathy to others. Nola has the foresight to be proactive in planning initiatives and sustaining our multiple programs that support our employees at Baptist Health. Nola is a supportive and caring director. She cares for everyone in her department, both personally and professionally. The morale in her department is excellent and I believe this is due to her. She has a way of providing feedback that makes you feel appreciated and valued. She is never too busy to help. She has a way of protecting us yet encouraging us to step out of our comfort zone. She always has excellent advice and prompts you to see things on your own. I feel very lucky to have her leading our department. She embodies what the DAISY Award is all about.

Nola Lanham is smart, courageous, and innovative. She takes the time to get to know her team and motivates them through influence. She is a faithful servant leader. One of her team members recently experienced a lot of tragedy in their personal life. She motivated her team to support this team member through this very hard time in her life while keeping confidentiality and being a vessel for her to come and talk to. The team was able to donate time, funds, and items to their co-worker and Nola was the catalyst to start the process. She constantly pushes people to their full potential and sees much more in her team when they sometimes don't see it in themselves. She will advocate on behalf of patients, families, and team members. She has been an ear to listen to, a shoulder to cry on, and gives advice when the situation calls for a swift kick in the pants. She has a knack for reading the room and knowing what to say when others just don't have the words. She is most deserving of the DAISY Nurse Leader award.
