Christine became the nursing director of 2B in October, and immediately her passion for nursing and her positive energy emulated throughout the unit. She is not only hands-on and visible to her staff, but she is also competent and possesses the qualities it takes to be a strong leader. Christine’s glass is always half-full despite the different challenges she faces. Christine is such a kind-hearted person, and it’s a true pleasure to work with her. Not long after she took on this role, she came to me because one of her new staff members reached out to express some concerns about her new role - she was unsure this would be the right place for her, she was nervous about taking responsibility of patients’ lives, she was nervous that she’d do them a disservice. Christine wanted me to speak to her as well because she knew she was going to do well and flourish on 2B. After we spoke with her, Christine constantly stayed on top of her progress and was truly elated when she came off orientation and had the confidence to safely take care of her patients. This is just one of many examples of what a great leader she is and why she would be deserving of this award.
