Jackie sat with me and encouraged me to breathe.
Jackie was so attentive to my needs. I had never been in the hospital before. She made every effort to make me feel comfortable. She also interacted well with my husband, who was so worried. He is a Type A personality, and she answered every question in a caring and professional manner.
Then came my diagnosis. One that I was not expecting-one that knocked me off my feet (metaphorically) – cancer! Jackie sat with me and encouraged me to breathe. That it’s okay to cry, she offered to get the Chaplin and walked up and down the hall with me.
Jackie is a great asset to UNC Rex. I shall not forget her kindness. She “saw” me. I was more than a patient, and I felt lucky to have had her care for me.
