About three weeks ago, Romeo was at the YMCA playing pickleball. C was also playing on a nearby court and did not know his life would be forever changed that day. Without warning, C collapsed on the court and Romeo, an off duty nurse, sprang into action and started compressions when he noticed C had no pulse. He called out for an AED that was also required to revive C. C is a friend of one of my best friends and told me how grateful he was that an ICU nurse was there that day to save his life. Romeo jumped in to assist during this life-threatening situation because he knew action had to be taken immediately. Without his quick thinking, C might not still be here today to tell me the story during our nightly walk in the neighborhood. Romeo is so deserving of special recognition for his selfless nature and how much he cares to serve patients. He is a role model for the nursing profession.
