All the nurses were great, but Keri stood out. She was very organized and cleaned the room immediately at the start of the shift. She was very attentive to our dad’s needs; she anticipated what he needed before he knew what he needed. She explained everything to him, even though he often didn’t understand. She was the only nurse who gave him a back rub and he really loved that after laying on his back for so long.
Keri was everything you'd want in a nurse: analytical, compassionate, devoted, and knowledgeable, but how she treated my dad with such dignity is what stood out the most. My dad was on a ventilator for many of the times she cared for him and I was so impressed with how she spoke to him when caring for him even when he wasn't able or going to communicate back. She would study his machines and numbers to make the best decisions for him. She showed how her years of expertise has helped her provide the very best care for her patients. My family was with my dad for every second of his time there and Keri was kind and helpful to each one of us, too! (My dad would like to add that every single nurse was fantastic, but Keri’s thoughtfulness, humanity, and careful watch truly stood out!)
Another nurse told my family that Keri is assigned the most acute patients and I can see why; she was confident and reassured us that my dad was safe and well cared for. Even after she wasn’t the nurse for our dad, she cheered him on in the hallway or stopped in to see him. Keri deserves this Award. She made a difficult situation more bearable for our family, her smile helped us get through each day and we will always be grateful for Keri!
