She took the time that I’m sure she didn’t have to listen to my concerns and fears and even made sure my phone was charged
I am currently a patient on your med/tele unit in the process of being discharged hopefully tomorrow. I have been impressed by the quality of care by ALL the staff here form the sanitary service to the doctors taking care of me. I was transferred on an emergent basis from Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro for a an extremely painful perforated bowel. I came here alone, scared, and in horrible pain. While everyone has been great, one nurse absolutely stood out for me and it was Tonya.
She totally went above and beyond for me and my care. Even though she was extremely busy, she never appeared rushed or made me feel like I was a bother. She took the time that I’m sure she didn’t have to listen to my concerns and fears and even made sure my phone was charged for me since I didn’t have my charger since my situation was emergent. She also did all these things working with an injured foot and maintaining her duties as a charge nurse.
I should also add that I am a nurse myself and I am familiar with the day-to-day process of a busy medical unit. I definitely feel that she deserves the DAISY Award. She made a horrible, painful, scary experience so much better because she is an amazing nurse and the TriHealth organization is incredibly lucky and blessed to have her. Thank you for your time. It should also be noted that I wasn’t sure how I was going to get home since I was an emergency transfer and friends/family are working. She pursued the process of me obtaining a medical Uber.
