The next morning I received a FaceTime call, to my surprise, it was Nurse Beth, calling with my baby awake, alert, and oh so clean, handsome, and with a colorful onesie.
My son is my prince and has been in the hospital 5 months already, his room has been waiting for him for almost half a year. Our home feels empty without him in it. Hospitals are the home he knows, nurses are the family he counts on, and we appreciate them so much for taking taking care of him. Many are special and caring and excellent. On this occasion, I must thank Nurse Beth for being an excellent caring nurse that made me smile and cry happy tears.
In May, Cardiologists spoke to me in detail, they explained how his condition affects his heart and the severity of it broke my heart more than it already was. I left him that day feeling the emptiness, the frustration of not being able to take him home of wondering when. The next morning I received a FaceTime call, to my surprise, it was Nurse Beth, calling with my baby awake, alert, and oh so clean, handsome, and with a colorful onesie. My heart felt full because I saw my precious baby but also because the person taking care of him gave him a little extra care and attention, gave him and us the time to make us smile.
Parents hurt so much, to feel reassured that our little person is loved means the world. The heart feels heavy when we wonder but so full when we see our baby that has been through so much being pampered and cared for. Thank you, Beth, for making a difference in our son’s life and in ours also. You always go the extra mile.
