To be in a hospital is to be in an incredibly vulnerable place. It's a place where our son has to have pain inflicted on him to ultimately bring healing. It's a physically, financially, and emotionally draining process that puts an entire family in a place of complete vulnerability. Emily was truly God's gift to us during this time and it brings tears to my eyes to think about the many ways she has blessed us.

This was our third hospital admission with my son in the last year and a half and we can honestly say that Emily gave more personalized care than any of the other nursing staff we've ever experienced (with the exception of C). The entire family, including the extended family, individually experienced that. She goes above and beyond and is clearly extraordinary.

We never once felt like she didn't have time for us or that any of the many requests we had were a burden. Emily would pop in throughout the day to play with my son just to see a smile brought to his face. Emily could discern when my son was struggling and would take him with her to cheer him up. She has a way of truly loving and seeing each kid in a way where they feel like they are number one. She wouldn't just complete a scheduled task but made everything a positive event or experience for our son. She built trust with him to the point where he felt as safe and loved as he did with his family. On days Emily didn't work my son would ask where his "friend" was. It's obvious that pediatric nursing is Emily's calling and our family will forever be grateful for her.
