We have been very impressed with the staff at Dell Children's but Tawana stood out as exceptional to us due to her attentiveness, compassion, and how well she interacted with our son. Our son was admitted for intussusception and was discharged after 24 hours the first time we went to the hospital. Less than 24 hours after his discharge he was readmitted for transient intussusception as well as inability to eat/drink and persistent vomiting. This is when Tawana took care of him. She listened to our story, understood that we were worried and tired, and was positive and kind while showing us that she cared for not only our son but us as parents too. We never had to use our call light. It was like she knew something was up and knew when to come in without being asked. She was very quick with getting STAT ultrasounds in order to catch the intussusception when it was happening, communicated with us what the doctor's plans were, got the medicine right away with no wait, and even stayed in the room and spoke with us about her traveling, daughter, and her hometown of Miami which made us feel like we had more of a personal connection and eased our worrying minds. Tawana is a phenomenal nurse and an even better person.
