Watching how careful and attentive he is with each patient makes me appreciate him more.
When I was most down crying and not feeling well, Eloy stopped to make sure I was not only good with medication and food but really mentally. When I was crying about my family, he made me realize that I have a lot. My memory is bad but the 5-6 times he stopped me from crying put a smile on my face and made me look at the world differently. His spirit is what helped me get through discharge and look on the bright side of things. There were times when he said, lets play a game or had a man-to-man convo. The AM check-in, he made sure that I was good and participated.

Aside from my own personal experiences with Eloy, overall he’s very sweet with a big heart. This field of work is nowhere near easy, and I feel we need more Eloy’s in the world of healthcare. Watching how careful and attentive he is with each patient makes me appreciate him more. He always makes sure to take his time explaining everything so there’s no miscommunication leaving anyone misguided or confused. He’s also great at multitasking, which is another influence adding to why he deserves this award. Eloy definitely is THE Extraordinary Nurse of the inpatient unit here at RUSH.

Eloy went out of his way to help collaborate with my care using his expertise. He is a true leader and advocate for his patients while demonstrating care, evidence-based practice, and critical thinking. He was always there and present during conversations regarding treatment plans. Always looking out for my best interest.

He always took the time to meet with me to discuss and plan my care one on one. He helped me navigate the time spent in the milieu and room by allowing use of my iPad and noise-canceling headphones due to my autism.

He is always extremely kind, helpful, and professional with all the patients.
