She was highly informative, including a great sense of humor. Meanwhile, she never neglected other patients under her care.
I normally do not write about my experience concerning services I have encountered but this is an exception. I am eighty-five years of age and had a triple bi-pass, two stints and several operations during my lifetime. So, I am familiar about treatment and attitude of nurses, doctors, etc. during my encounters at a hospital.
Recently, I felt pressure on my chest and my left arm was having pains. I knew the warning signs and had my son drive me to the Oak Hill Hospital Emergency Room at about 4 p.m. There, I was quickly admitted as a patient into the hospital. During my first night, I was awakened to check on me because my heart was racing and then dropped to low levels. It was decided to send me to tower 2, ICU at 3 am. This is where I encountered the ICU team of nurses. They quickly checked my vitals, asked me all sorts of questions while attending my treatment. They were efficient and knowledgeable while making me feel extremely comfortable being in their care.
One nurse stood out among the rest. She was very attentive concerning my comfort, pain level and constantly tracked my wellbeing. She stayed in my room at her desk throughout the night. The next morning, she conveyed my information to the next shift nurse, ensuring she knew all about me. That day, I went through the usual tests and procedures to find out what is the problem with me. That night, I was glad to see her back taking care of me. She explained every procedure thoroughly and clearly answered my questions I had concerning the tests that I was taking and the stint being installed the next day. She was highly informative, including a great sense of humor. Meanwhile, she never neglected other patients under her care.
When I inquired about her, every nurse plus a couple of patients told me the same thing. She gives the best care. I said I had experience with hospitals and nurses and I must say she went above and beyond her duties concerning her patients.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Nurse Mariah, who I will not forget.
