With every move and beep of a machine, Tana was there to check it out and make sure all was good. Tana cared for me as well with her kind words, her caring hand and her whole heart.
A normal Saturday, so I thought, turned into my worst nightmare. As an only child I knew that someday I would be caring for one of my parents alone and that Saturday in November was that day. I brought my mom into the Blessing Walk-In-Clinic for what we both thought was a UTI. It turned out to be so much more. After eight hours in the emergency room, we learned my mom had double pneumonia, a blockage in her left kidney, A Fib, and Sepsis. All these words scared me to death. I worked in health care for some time and knew enough that this combination could be deadly.

In the ICU on Sunday, Nurse Tana Logue was assigned to mom and I would like to nominate her for the DAISY Award. Tana barely left my mom’s side on Sunday. She was there to care for her and save her life. Tana talked to my mom about everything that was happening to her and what was being done to her even though my mom was not responding to her. She also kept me informed as things changed throughout the day. Tana cared for my mom as if she was her own family member. She knew how scared I was, and she went above and beyond to help me understand. I had lots of questions and Tana answered all of them. She also answered questions and explained everything to my daughters in a very comforting tone so they could understand the severity of the situation. With every move and beep of a machine, Tana was there to check it out and make sure all was good. Tana cared for me as well with her kind words, her caring hand and her whole heart.

My mom was in the ICU for 12 days and received the absolute best care possible. Although my mom does not remember her stay there, she is doing very well now. Blessing Hospital was home to my mom for 69 days and all of her care was great. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in the recovery of my mom.
