I am truly thankful that she was placed in our paths at that time and we will forever be grateful for all of her help during our stay.
Being the mom of a heart transplant (8 years), I have met many nurses, having multiple admissions in less than 2 weeks for respiratory viruses and GI viruses. We were stretched thin and Kara was very aware of not only what my son was going through but could see my needs as well. During our stay and the 2 days, she took care of both of us, she gave me peace of mind and reassurance that he was in the best place for what he needed. Her empathy and care towards my son will definitely stay with him, as they remember everything that happens to them and where they are. I am truly thankful that she was placed in our paths at that time and we will forever be grateful for all of her help during our stay. Everything from trying to get a smile out of him, making sure he had the supplies that she could see he preferred (like big square stickers for the monitors vs. the small round ones), without him even having to ask. Thankful that she didn’t mind helping me store breastmilk for our 5-month-old who had to be left at home, so she wouldn’t catch one of his viruses.
For all of her attention to detail throughout our stay, we thank you so much for loving what you do, as it is so apparent in the care you give your patients and their families. Thank you for being the blessing we need to get through that stay. I pray you receive many blessings!
