Ultimately, Tracey’s words convinced the doctor who advocated anesthesiology and ultimately they moved forward.
I am so grateful that Tracey was my mom’s nurse during her recent stay. My mom was in and out of St. Anthony’s multiple times over the last two months with suspected UTIs and diverticulitis. A test was planned but was bumped due to another emergency.
Our family was left waiting for answers, terrified about what we might learn. The procedure was planned again, but then anesthesia was pushed back due to low levels. Tracey, who had been so patient and caring with my mom through her fear and pain, pushed the doctor to listen to the full context around my mom’s low levels. They had been low, then climbed, then appeared to fall again. Tracey explained how difficult it is to get ahead of replacements due to a dependency on nephrology. The high reading was down during a replacement, so Tracey suspected mom’s levels were consistent and that we may not be able to get to safe levels in time.
Ultimately, Tracey’s words convinced the doctor who advocated anesthesiology and ultimately they moved forward. The procedure ruled out colon cancer! I am certain that they proceeded due to Tracey’s excellent analysis and wisdom. She cared for my mom as if she were her own and I will be eternally grateful. Thank you.
Note: This is Tracey's 2nd DAISY Award!
