Marisol took it on her own initiative to speak with the head of your kidney department.
Marisol Morales is an RN who took extraordinary care of me during my stay while being treated for an umbilical Hernia. Every morning she would come visit me in my room with a bright smile, and a positive attitude ready to help me get better in any way she could.
The day I was getting discharged, as I was packing up Marisol came to my room and she told me one of the new intern doctors said my kidney functions were slightly elevated and they wanted me to spend another night. Marisol saw the disappointment in my eyes and told me she would be right back. She went and reviewed my kidney function numbers and saw they were getting much better every day. My function was off by 1%. They had not taken blood since I had a hydrating IV and she knew my number would be more than acceptable if they were only to draw my blood since I had all the fluid put back.
Marisol took it on her own initiative to speak with the head of your kidney department. The Dr. looked at my numbers, smiled, and said, "You are more than ready to be discharged." She comes back to my room with a big smile and tells me what happened, and I am all set to go home. I was so very touched by her kindness after she saw how disappointed I was. Her care for me was with compassion and kindness, yet her skill level was that of a nurse with many years of experience.
Marisol did not miss a beat and was constantly thinking of ways she could help me feel better. To my surprise she told me she was a new nurse, this was her first nursing job. I complimented her and told her she was way beyond her years and how grateful I was to be in her care. There were countless acts of professional kindness and caring, I wanted to share one of them. In this world where everyone is complaining about everything, I feel she deserves to be noticed and praised. She is one of your superstars that makes Baylor such a special place. Thank you, Marisol!
