Jenna had a plan and went over and above to help me give birth to my son!
My husband and I came to the hospital at midnight to be induced four days before my due date. We both were a little worried about this but went with our doctor's recommendations due to a slight high blood pressure in my first trimester.
We came in and were greeted by the front desk. She shows us our room and a nurse comes in immediately to start the process. She is kind and very attentive throughout the night. They started me on a medicine to induce my labor. Well, the medicine works very slowly and my body wasn’t ready to give birth and I stayed stuck at 2cm dilated for over 24 hours. My doctor discusses doing a Foley bulb on my cervix but recommends that I get an epidural beforehand. We decided to get the epidural around midnight, then the Foley bulb to follow. The Foley bulb bursts immediately and does not work. The doctor says she will come back and try again but does not, and in fact, we never see her again.
Doing the Foley bulb made quite a bloody mess. I couldn’t feel anything so I did not know how messy I was. At 7 a.m. Jenna comes in and introduces herself and checks things out. She immediately notices how messy I am and takes a warm washcloth to my bottom and legs. She changes the bloody pad I had been lying on all night and even fixes my socks to put them back tight on my feet! She went over and beyond to clean me up; we started talking about where I was at with my labor. She found out I was only 2cm dilated, but almost 100% thinned out and my water had not been broken yet. Her response was, “Oh, well we need to break your water!”
She got with Dr. J and within an hour my water was broken. She told me it was going to be her mission for us to have this baby today! By now I am 30 hours into labor, she checks me and I have moved from 2 to 6 cm. A while later she encourages me to get on all fours, knees, and arms, and I am in that position for about ten minutes before I feel a lot of pressure. She checks me and I am ready to push!
