Sarah organized a collaborative effort among our team members and his family to assist our new resident without overwhelming him.

The inspiring nomination story that led to Sarah's well-deserved recognition was submitted by a colleague who was eager to highlight her remarkable qualities.
At the time, there was a challenging new Palisades at Broadmoor Park resident from out of state who had limited communication skills and used only repetitive phrases. On his move-in day, the resident became upset and began loudly venting his frustration toward his family and our team members. The situation further escalated when the resident fled the building and positioned himself in front of his family member’s car. Emotions ran high with the family beginning to argue back and forth with one another.
Sarah recognized the urgency of the situation and quickly stepped in to regain control of the resident and his family. She effortlessly diffused the tension with her ease, patience, and warmth. It only took a few minutes for her to create a calm atmosphere and help the family work together toward a solution.
Sarah organized a collaborative effort among our team members and his family to assist our new resident without overwhelming him. Within an hour, he was successfully guided back into the building.
But Sarah's dedication didn't end there.
Understanding the importance of effective communication, Sarah embarked on a week-long journey of trial, error, and creative ideas. She continued to work on diminishing the gap between the resident, his family, and the rest of our team members, ensuring that they could communicate effectively. This dedication to finding innovative solutions brought immense relief to the resident's family, who had not seen their loved one in some time and struggled to connect with him.
The family expressed their profound gratitude, acknowledging that thanks to Sarah's quality of care, they could finally sleep soundly, knowing their loved one was safe and well cared for.
