Anna shows effort, love, compassion, and dedication to her patients. Over the past few months, Anna has gone above and beyond for one patient in our unit. As of today, this patient has been 152 days in the hospital. Just a little background this patient was brought to the hospital because he was being abused at the residential home he was living in.  As soon as he was admitted to our floor, we knew he was special to us. This patient has aphasia & and cognitive impairment and at times it’s hard to understand but our nurse Anna always takes her time and cares for him. Anna noticed that the patient wasn’t eating breakfast and he stated he didn’t like the food here. Anna started bringing him 2 boiled eggs, snacks, and other items every day she came to work. On her off days she would leave some of the nurses in charge to care for him while she was off. She has brought clothes, and shoes for the patient. She was heartbroken to know that there was a possibility of him leaving back to Mexico. She was planning a going away party for him but plans changed. 
On a positive note, the patient has gained weight and loves our floor. Anna has demonstrated all the ICARE values.
