I’m nominating Jana Hume on behalf of an unattended nonverbal patient. Jana has cared for this patient for a while. On her day off she went to the store and requested assistance from the workers on what hair products she might need. She used her own money to purchase these products to take to work with her. Jana then went home and proceeded to watch YouTube videos on how to care for and style this patient's hair type. During her shift she spent an extended period of time washing, brushing out, and styling her hair. She deserves to be recognized for going above and beyond for this patient. Jana is a knowledgeable nurse who is compassionate and kind to patients and their families. She is a team player who will willingly take on additional tasks to help out her coworkers as well as unit leadership. Jana gives something extra to all her patients, but never fails to give the unattended children a little extra love. She goes above and beyond to make sure these patients are bathed and changed, with their hair done and in their best outfits, even when the patients are not assigned to her. She exceeds expectations in her everyday nursing responsibilities. 5 Center and the children of CHNOLA are lucky to have Jana on their team.
