Integrity - Ms. Chukwu collaborates with the PCPs in the Women's Health Clinic to provide female veterans services, such as Pap smears and breast examinations. Also, she assists with ordering supplies needed by patients, such as blood pressure cuffs. She collaborates using essential components in providing care to complex patients on her team. Ms. Chukwu engages in collaborative practices with medical providers (MDs), psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses through an evidence-based problem-solving approach. She values teamwork, demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, and establishes a professional rapport with her peers and the interdisciplinary team. Working together with other health professionals is part of her daily activity to improve outcomes and help render efficient, quality, and patient-centered care.

Commitment- As a charge nurse, she demonstrated leadership and clinical skills in delivering holistic care combined with great clinical judgment and organizational practice. Ms. Chukwu completed the Clinical Teams Training (CTT) Master’s Trainer and taught five classes in the Women’s Health Clinic, Radiology, Medical, and Surgical Intensive Care Units. She is responsible for educating 100 staff members on Followership and assertive Advocacy. Ms. Chukwu is an active member of the Unit-Based Special Project Team and Nursing Clinical Practice. She completed her Master’s in Nursing at Grand Canyon University.

Advocacy- Ms. Chukwu practices according to the Nurse Practice Act and the Veterans Health Administration guidelines. She advocates for both veterans and staff’s safety and shares unique knowledge and skills with her colleagues. She serves as a preceptor to newly hired nurses and two nursing students in the Women's Health Clinic. She acts in a supportive manner with new staff to ensure positive behavior and communicates practice and quality changes to fellow nurses. Patient safety is a top priority. As a nurse, protecting patients from medical errors, injuries, and infections is her priority in providing safe, efficient, and cost-effective nursing care.

Respect - Ms. Chukwu provides holistic care, spends quality time, and establishes a caring relationship with patients. She celebrates diversity in people and offers the ultimate respect to patients, peers, and staff. Ms. Chukwu maintains a compassionate and caring relationship with colleagues, doctors, and other hospital personnel. She is patient, a great listener, and takes the time to allow patients to express their concerns.

Excellence-Ms. Chukwu provided excellent clinical support as a staff nurse. She is the Point of Contact for the glucometer and AIC competencies for the Women's Health Clinic. She demonstrates leadership experience and creative approaches to managing complex client care at the Women's Health Clinic. Ms. Chukwu with tremendous clinical knowledge functions as a PACT Nurse, rendering the best possible care to our deserving veterans. She delivers and improves holistic care through the collaboration of the primary care provider and licensed practical nurse (LPN) to over 900 patients. Ms. Chukwu provides direct support and assistance to the Patient Care Aligned Team (PACT). Ms. Chukwu has solid interpersonal skills and enjoys working with all types of patients. She identifies safety hazards and offers solutions to patient, visitor, and employee safety concerns.
