Danielle is one of our nurse preceptors and charge nurses on this unit. As a manager, I have seen how she is able to connect with her patients and help them with resources outside of just medical care.

Yesterday, we had a patient who lost her home, belongings, and basically everything she had to a house fire. The patient is also a dog breeder and lost all supplies for this, too. Danielle spent over an hour straight in the patient’s room listening to her and guiding her in her next steps. Throughout the day, Danielle called local hotels and motels to see if they could accommodate the patient. She called the patient’s insurance company to see what they could provide for the patient and if she could get a rental car. She also called the Red Cross and was able to help provide the patient with a gift card to get her up and back on her feet. Not only did she do all of this, but Danielle also stopped by the next day and brought the patient bags full of clothes and basic necessities. I would like to acknowledge Danielle for going above and beyond.
