They rise to these challenging situations with expertise and confidence.
The DAISY Team Award is designed to honor nursing teams who identify and meet patient and family needs by going above and beyond the traditional role of nursing. Our Main PACU Nursing Team certainly meets that criteria, as seen in these excerpts from nominations that came in this year from nursing leadership, anesthesia care providers and surgeons: “Our Main PACU nursing team is a group of highly skilled clinicians, responsible for caring for and monitoring immediate post-operative patients across ALL age groups. Using their keen critical skills, they ensure that any possible acute complication arising from surgery or anesthesia is addressed early and safely by critically intervening - whether it be managing the unstable airway of the tiniest baby or the hemodynamically unstable adult. They rise to these challenging situations with expertise and confidence.” “Parents are universally impressed by the competence and compassion of the PACU staff. I have seen the PACU staff manage the most challenging medical situations with calm competence, and provide reassurance to those they care for and their families. I can think of no better place to care for my patients.” “Not only would I like to highlight their clinical skills and judgement, but I'd like to emphasize that all the nurses on this unit are very compassionate, caring, and sensitive and express empathy towards our sick patients. They not only provide excellent clinical care to the patients, but the comfort they offer to the families speaks volume on how they contribute to alleviating the anxiety and stress these families are burdened with when they walk through the hospital doors... They rise in times of need, and they step in and support one another. It is exemplary to see them work so collegially and collaboratively, not only as a cohesive team, but as a family… they go above and beyond.” Congratulations to our Main PACU Nursing Team on your DAISY Team Award!
