I came to Gettysburg Hospital for an outpatient liver biopsy. Everyone on the medical staff I encountered was kind and friendly, but Abigail stood out above the rest. She could tell I was extremely nervous about getting the liver biopsy since it was done with only local numbing of my skin and liver, requiring me to feel each of the needles to do the numbing. With every single action of the doctor, no matter how minor, Abby thoroughly explained what he was doing, how long it would take, and when he finished each step, and she held my hand, stroking it ever so gently to soothe my nervousness. Her eyes were so kind an locked into mine, as if she knew exactly what I was feeling. She brought a calming peace to me as we went through the procedure.

Abby was the kindest most compassionate, and sweetest nurse I have ever encountered in my 72 years of many interactions with nurses for my mother, my husband, my children, or myself. I can't praise her enough as a nurse totally devoted to the well-being and comfort of her patients. Abby was my angel that day.
