Finally, the best example is when Gayane came in with a cup of hot tea and sat with me for a while. She told me the story of her own child who needed surgery (like my newborn). I felt her sincere compassionate energy at that time.
I am so grateful to have had Gayane as my overnight nurse after I delivered my son A. I had a very risky, difficult pregnancy and a challenging C-section delivery. As soon as he was born, he was taken to NICU. I had to recover from my surgery. I had a bad postpartum experience after my first son was born. I was worried about a repeat of that experience this time. Thank God for Gayane.
It was like having my mom there with me. She wanted me to recover properly but didn’t push me too hard. She urged me to stand up slowly and for short periods. She encouraged me to take meds when I really needed them and to not feel guilty about needing them. She knew I was desperate to go up to NICU but wasn’t physically able on the first day. She reminded me that I was a good mother even though I couldn’t be with my son at that time.
